Fairfield resident Dr. Edith Cabrera-Tello is one of six honorees that will be inducted into the 2022 Iowa Latino Hall of Fame. Dr. Cabrera-Tello is currently the English Language Learning Coordinator for Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa and served as a parent outreach coordinator for the Ottumwa Community School District.
She was born in Guatemala and came to the United States in 1989 for college, moving to Iowa in 2005 after graduating. She now works with Latino students to improve their English-speaking ability, encourages them to be creative, and teaches real-world skills to prepare them for the modern workforce.
The Iowa Latino Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be Saturday, October 15th, at 5:30 pm at the Des Moines Art Center.
