The Washington Demon cross country team ran at the Lynx Invitational on a frigid Saturday morning at North Linn High School. The Demon girls finished third in the team standings, lead by freshman Iris Dahl finishing third individually in a time of 19 minutes and 50 seconds. Sophomores Quincy Griffis, Kendall Hinrichsen and Lauren Horak also medaled. Griffis ran the course in 20 minutes and 17 seconds to finish 11th, while Hinrichsen and Horak both clocked in 20 minutes and 46 seconds to finish 18th and 19th, respectively. Sophomores Isabella Lujan and Alyvia Anderson were 25th and 29th, respectively, while freshman Angeline Anderson was 31st.

On the boys’ side, the Demons finished seventh as a team. Junior Micah Rees finished second individually but still ran 16 minutes flat, the fastest time in school history. The Demons also had junior Lane Schrock finish 26th; sophomore Tyler Alderton 30th; freshman Andrew Rees 32nd; and seniors Elijah Morris and Drew Horak 44th and 45th. Washington will be back in action Thursday at the Southeasten Conference Cross Country Championships in Iowa City.
