The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk football team is still alive in the 2022 season after their thrilling come-from-behind 7-6 playoff win at Northeast Goose Lake Friday. The numbers back up the fact that this has been a special year for the Hawks. Going into the second round of the playoffs, Mid-Prairie ranks No. 2 in Class 2A as a team with 15 interceptions, No. 4 in total takeaways with 20 and No. 10 with five fumble recoveries. On offense, Mid-Prairie is fifth in 2A in number of rushing snaps run at 361, sixth at 17.1 yards per pass completion and 10th with 22 rushing touchdowns.
Individual leaders for the Hawks in the top 10 in the state include senior Braden Hartley, second in 2A with 216 carries, fifth at 6.2 yards per carry, for those with at least 150 touches, sixth with 1,335 rushing yards and seventh with 14 rushing scores. Senior Cain Brown is averaging 18.1 yards per catch, fifth best in 2A to go with his seventh highest total of five touchdown catches in 2A. Golden Hawk senior quarterback Collin Miller is eighth in 2A with 16 yards per completion. On defense, Brown is best on the team and third in 2A with four interceptions. Junior Dylan Henry is fourth in 2A football with three pass interceptions. Junior Grady Miller has a pair of fumble recoveries, third most in the state, one of those he returned for a touchdown.
The Golden Hawks are looking to extend their season Friday, and for some revenge when they go on the road for a rematch with No. 1 Williamsburg in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs.
