Playoff football continues this Friday in southeast Iowa, with several area teams advancing and keeping their dreams alive for a trip to the UNI-Dome.
Mid-Prairie improved to 6-3, following an upset of Northeast Goose Lake. The Golden Hawks grinded out a 7-6 victory last Friday against the Rebels to advance to the round of 16 in the 2A playoffs. The Hawks now face a big test when they travel to top-ranked Williamsburg for a rematch with the Raiders. KCII will be covering the game live on AM 1380 and FM 102.5, with coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m. and kickoff at 7.
WACO continued their perfect season with a rout of the Martensdale St. Marys Blue Devils 57-14, earning themselves another home game in the second round of the 8-man playoffs. The 10-0 Warriors host the Central City Wildcats at 7 p.m. with pregame coverage beginning at 6:30. The game will be broadcast on FM 106.1 and the KCII1 app.
The Class A Columbus Wildcats handled Maquoketa Valley last week, with a dominant 62-14 win. Now 8-1, the Cats travel to Grundy Center Friday to take on the Spartans. Coverage for the game is available on the KCII2 app, with pregame beginning at 6:30 p.m. and kickoff at 7.
In Class 1A, Sigourney-Keota shut-out Sumner-Fredricksburg with a convincing 31-0 victory to improve their record to 7-2. The Cobras will host the second round matchup against the 10th-ranked Mediapolis Bulldogs.
