At the beginning of the board of supervisors meeting on Tuesday, a group of Washington County Ambulance and EMS workers led by veteran employee Mike Freel presented a vote of no confidence for the current administration of the ambulance service.

Freel read a prepared statement to the board, “I’ve seen the good and bad with this service, and right now, the complete lack of transparency and accountability and the companywide morale is the worst I’ve ever experienced. The environment is at an all-time toxic level within the ambulance service. Certain employees of the Washington County Ambulance Service have come forward with a letter attached with signatures from the majority of employees stating a vote of no confidence in the current administration. If the current administrative team is left in place, the county, citizens, and respective QRS groups stand to lose many dedicated employees and volunteers.”

At a special meeting of the Washington County Board of Supervisors on October 20th, the board unanimously approved placing Washington County Ambulance Director Jeremy Peck on a month-long administrative leave without pay starting October 27th due to personnel and management issues. The board approved rescinding Peck’s original administrative leave without pay and approved placing him on paid administrative leave effective immediately.

Washington County Ambulance Service Assistant Director Pat Curl has been appointed interim Director by the Board of Supervisors.
