Efficiency is often the name of the game in sports. Doing something well and doing it often is where winning results come from most of the time. That’s why it’s no surprise that the WACO Warriors, the Highland Huskies, the Sigourney Savages and the Winfield-Mount Union Wolves were among the most efficient teams in the area when they had to serve the volleyball this past season.

WACO was not only the most efficient serving team in the South East Iowa Super Conference North, but the Warriors’ .933 serving percentage ends up 10th-best in all of Class 1A. Highland ended up second in the Super Conference North with an even .920 serving average and were 26th in all of 1A. Sigourney also proved to be an excellent serving team this year, tied atop the South Iowa Cedar League and tied for 16th in 1A with a .926 average.

On an individual level, WACO junior hitter Marie Farmer was best in the Super Conference North and eighth in 1A with a .952 serving percentage. Farmer also had the second-most aces in the state, regardless of class, with 97. WMU senior libero Keetyn Townsley was second in the conference, with Warriors senior libero Jocelyn Fulton third.
