The Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report yesterday that a subject that was wanted out of Washington County was turning themselves in at the jail. Thirty-one-year-old Marissa Laura Crawford of Richland was arrested on a Washington County warrant for Second-Degree Theft, a Class D Felony.
The original incident occurred in June when a deputy responded in Brighton to a report about a possible theft. The victim informed the deputy that the bank had contacted her about fraudulent activity on her account. Over the course of three months, there had been 40 fraudulent transactions from her account for a total of just under $10,000.
It was determined through interviews and bank transaction information that Crawford was responsible for the fraudulent activity. Crawford was transported to the Washington County Jail and has been issued a $5,000 cash-only bond. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
