The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk cross country teams put together another big season on the course this fall and architect of the program’s current run of success, head coach Mark Hostetler, was recognized by the Iowa Association of Track Coaches. Hostetler was named as an At-Large Girls Class 2A Coach of the Year by the IATC. The Golden Hawk girls in 2022 were highlighted by the team’s season long No. 2 ranking. The girls advanced to their ninth consecutive state meet as a team by winning the Pella Christian qualifier meet. Once in Fort Dodge, Mid-Prairie finished fifth place in Class 2A, led by junior Danielle Hostetler winning her third consecutive individual state championship and seventh straight for the Hostetler family.

Along with the girls qualifying for state and their achievements, the Golden Hawk boys also advanced to state this year as a group for the second straight season after finishing third at the Pella Christian qualifier. The Golden Hawk boys placed 13th as a team in Fort Dodge.

This is the fifth Coach of the Year honor from the IATC for Hostetler, who in 2020 was also named the Iowa Girls Cross Country Coach of the Year by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Association.
