The Washington Demons battled back from some early adversity this football season, and they’ve been recognized for their efforts. Washington earns 10 all-district choices in Class 3A District 5 after winning its final three games to finish with a record of 5-4.
Senior Brayden Hartman has not only been named a first-team all-district offensive lineman, but he has also been voted the district’s Offensive Line Most Valuable Player. Hartman helped pave the way for Washington to rush for 1,936 yards, an average of just over 215 yards per game. Senior Ethan Patterson was the maestro of that offensive orchestra, running for over 400 yards and three touchdowns and passing for another 410 yards and five TDs while being named a first-team quarterback.
On defense, senior James Strabala made a team-high 86-and-a-half tackles and is named a first-team linebacker. Senior DaShaun Westphal-Edwards dominated up front and is a first-team lineman after piling up 54 tackles, including 14 tackles for loss.
Junior Casen Evans joins Strabala as an all-district linebacker after making the second team. Senior tight end Evan Van Der Molen and senior lineman Zander Laws also make the second team, while junior Nick Dittrich and seniors Clayton Streeter and Kaisen Rude are honorable mentions.
