The KCII listening area is set to receive it’s first taste of winter Tuesday. The National Weather Service Quad Cities office has issued a Winter Weather Advisory through 6p.m. For the entire KCII listening area. Light snow is expected in the advised area with 1-3 inches of accumulation forecast. This could make for slick and slushy driving conditions and reduced visibility during Tuesday’s morning and evening commutes and slick surfaces on outdoor walkways. KCII Weatherology Meteorologist Derek Heit talked about what an advisory means. “A Winter Weather Advisory means we can expect accumulating snow, or even blowing snow at times. A mix of sleet and light freezing rain sometimes accompany these winter weather systems as well. Be prepared for slippery road conditions and give yourself extra time if traveling.”

The KCII Severe Weather Action Team is monitoring the situation. You can hear an updated listing of cancellations and delays, current advisories and road conditions on the air following each Weatherology forecast and find them listed free online at KCIIradio.com.
