Fine arts talent will be flowing in central Iowa this weekend when Ames hosts the 76th annual Iowa All-State Music Festival. Several local musicians will be on the state-wide stage. Washington High School has five selections joining the all-state band this weekend including Bailey Rees on clarinet, Claire Wubbena on trombone, Teague Mayer on tuba, Kevin Flannery as a tuba alternate and Mikaila Matheson as a flute alternate.
Ethan Sexauer of Mount Pleasant will perform on violin with the All-State orchestra while soprano Natalie McCormick, tenor Tien Nguyen, bass Robert Heaton and alternate Brandon Burtlow will join the All-State chorus.
Fairfield has three representatives on the All-State Chorus with alto Erin Epperson, tenor Connor Hawkins and bass Andrew Titze.
The All-State Music Festival is Saturday, November 19th at Hilton Coliseum in Ames. Tickets can be purchased at the Iowa High School Music Association website under the festival information tab.
