KCII News interviewed Senator Grassley on Tuesday. We asked about the Railroad shutdown legislation that has been ongoing and where he stands. Grassley states, “Settle this strike because we can’t have rails shut down; it’s going to shut down the economy, cost the economy two billion dollars a week. You can imagine if we can’t export our grain on a regular basis out of Iowa. What sort of problems that’s going to create for agriculture, just as an example.” The U.S. House passed a bill with a vote of 290-137 and now heads to the Senate. The bill would bind companies and workers to a proposed settlement that was reached on September 28th but was rejected by six of the 12 unions involved.
