The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys grapplers start the conference slate tonight in Tipton. Mid-Prairie opened the year Tuesday at a quadrangular meet at English Valleys High School where they finished 1-2, beating the Bears on their home mat before falling to Wapello and Eddyville-Blakesburg. Several Hawks finished the night unbeaten Tuesday, including Owen Trimpe at 170 and Terry Bordenave at 220 going 3-0 in contested matches, and Mason Howe at 126 and Dom Shively at 160 3-0, with two match wins and a forfeit. Those who went 2-1 included Mose Yoder at 120, Landry Gingerich at 145 and Burke Berry at 285.

Thursday is another quad for the Golden Hawks that includes conference schools Tipton, West Branch and RVC new-comer Dyersville-Beckman. A season ago, Mid-Prairie had two tight duals at this event, beating West Branch 40-39 and falling to Tipton 42-39. This will be the first meeting between the Hawks and Blazers. Action starts tonight at 5:30 at Tipton.
