Highland Huskies basketball came up short in a pair of home games against Louisa-Muscatine Tuesday night. In the girls’ game, Highland’s two-point deficit through one quarter grew to nine at halftime and 11 entering the final period. The Huskies got closer at the end but still lost 41-35. Junior Sarah Burton had a big night on offense with 22 points scored, including nailing 12 of 14 free-throw attempts, but it was not enough to keep her team from falling to 2-3.

In the boys’ game, Highland was down 18-7 in a blink and never recovered, losing 65-37 to the Louisa-Muscatine Falcons. Junior Nicolas Oriano led the Huskies with 12 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore guard Logan McFarland added nine points and two assists, but Highland remains winless in four tries. Both Husky teams host Pekin tomorrow evening.
