The Winfield-Mount Union Wolves continued their Super Conference supremacy by sweeping a doubleheader at Wapello last night. In the girls’ game, WMU shook off only leading 19-13 after one quarter and exploded in the second half to win 59-31. Along with lock-down defense in the final 16 minutes, the Wolves got a double-double from senior Melina Oepping, who finished with 10 points and 14 rebounds. Bradie Buffington led WMU in scoring with 20 points and blocked five shots. Keetyn Townsley added five steals to her 13 points, while Keely Malone collected 12 points to help the Wolves improve to 7-0.

The Winfield-Mount Union boys also triumphed over Wapello 55-20. A WMU 24-0 run to open the game ended it before it ever starter. The Wolves improve to 3-1. Both Winfield-Mount Union teams are back in action today against Hillcrest, a doubleheader you can hear on 102.5 FM and AM 1380 KCII.
