The Sigourney Savages swept a basketball doubleheader Monday night at Cardinal. In the girls’ game, Sigourney won 49-41 behind strong defense, limiting the Comets to only 45 percent shooting. Meanwhile, the Savages did just enough on offense to win their third of the last four games and improve to 4-3. The boys’ game was a back-and-forth affair, with Sigourney trailing by five after a quarter of play. The Savages rallied to take a 32-31 lead into halftime, but Cardinal would go back in front by four going into the final period. Thanks to plenty of offense, Sigourney was able to hold on for the 65-62 victory and move to 4-2 on the season.
