Wednesday, AM and FM KCII took a break from regular programming for the second Day of Giving Live Radiothon, held in conjunction with the 20th annual KCII, Washington HyVee, Caring Christmas Food Drive to help raise money for food pantries and local organizations this holiday season. From 10a.m. To noon and 1-5p.m., local businesses and organizations joined members of the KCII staff live in the studio and through recorded vignettes to talk about the importance of helping those in need during the holiday season. KCII General Manager Joe Nichols talked about when you can make donations for the radiothon, “One of the things that I want to make sure people know is that you can make donations, anytime either before or after the radiothon. It doesn’t have to happen necessarily the day of. Part of the reason for the radiothon is more than monetary donations, and people donating stuff to us. It’s a lot about raising awareness, and getting that in the forefront of people’s minds. So whether they donate here or they donate somewhere else, just trying to give when you can.” This is the second year the station has hosted radiothons with the campaign.
