The Lone Tree School Board met in regular session on Monday, and began their meeting by adjourning the retiring board. Nominations were heard for President and Vice President for the upcoming school year. Robert Sladek will remain President, and Joel Yedlik will continue to be Vice President.
A presentation was given to the board by the Lone Tree Esports team. Jessica Howard, joined by some of the Esports players, provided a recap of their season so far, and fielded questions from the board. Discussions were held regarding potential improvements to the Esports program, with positive feedback from Howard and the students.
Andrew Koshatka, Principal for Lone Tree Middle/High School highlighted some events at the middle/high school level, including the blood drive and dance performances at state. He also provided student data from recent state assessments. New classes will be added to the course catalog for the second semester such as Modern Novels, Current Events, Sports and Entertainment Marketing, and Horticulture.
At the elementary level, Principal Amber Jacque mentioned the Reader Buddy program, which joins community volunteers and students once a week. Belief and Consensus results from staff were presented, and they will be used next month to improve the multi-tier systems of supports in the building.
Requests for supplemental spending authority were approved for limited English proficiency expenses in the amount of $1,927, and for open enrollment out costs in the amount of $31,798.
The Lone Tree Board of Education’s next meeting will be held on January 4 in the school library.
