The City of Fairfield has released information reminding residents of their Snow Ordinance.
Typically, snow emergencies will be called by city officials at 8 a.m. when severe winter weather is expected. The ordinance goes into effect at 8 p.m. on the day that the emergency is called, and prohibits overnight parking in designated areas until 9 a.m. the following day. If snow is not completely removed from the streets by the next day, the ordinance will go back into effect from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m.
Designated areas include Briggs, Broadway, Burlington, and Washington Avenues running east to west from 2nd Street to B Street. Overnight parking will also be prohibited on Main Street and Court Street up to Hempstead Avenue when the ordinance is in effect.
By following this ordinance, Fairfield residents will allow the City Street Department to clear the downtown roads to ensure smooth business operations during the day.
