The Keota Eagles could not get past Lynnville-Sully in a pair of South Iowa Cedar League basketball games last night at home. In the girls’ contest, Keota took a 13-9 lead at the end of the first quarter but would relinquish it before halftime, ultimately falling 44-32. The Eagles fall to 2-3 in conference play and 2-7 overall.
The boys’ game pitted one-loss Keota against a Lynnville-Sully squad that received votes in the latest Class 1A state rankings. But, after the Eagles led 17-15 one quarter in, the Hawks flipped the script and would go into halftime up 13. Keota was kept at arm’s length the rest of the night and lost 55-43, dropping them to 7-2. Both Eagle teams are back at it Tuesday in Brooklyn against BGM.
