It was a great fall sports season for the Winfield-Mount Union Wolves both on the field and in the classroom. 30 WMU athletes received academic all-conference honors from the Southeast Iowa Super Conference in 2022.

Winfield-Mount Union varsity volleyball and boys’ cross country led the way with eight selections each. Representing Wolves volleyball is Bradie Buffington, Lily Freeman, Audrie Gipple, Tessa Huston, Keely Malone, Aurey Meeker, Melina Oepping, Pacey Schlee and Keetyn Townsley. The boys cross-country runners to earn all-academic honors includes state qualifier Kholby Newsom, as well as Jacob Haines, Gabe Hemsworth, Jeff Maish, Preston Prior, Ty Scorpil, Bowen Thomson and Gabe White.

Wolves girls’ cross country was represented by Maggie Hutton, Bayla Thomson, Karilyn Titus and Afton Wilkerson. Other WMU athletes to receive academic all-conference are Avalin Grieser, Taegen Hobbs, Ella Kann, Madisen Kellogg, Olivia Martinez, Kellee Milks, Katie Miller, Josie Nelson and Kaelyn Townsley. Athletes received all-academic status for having a 3.5 grade-point average or better.
