On Wednesday, the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office issued a press release regarding a missing person. Forty-eight-year-old Michael Steven Bishop of Grandview was last seen at approximately 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 18 in Grandview driving his silver 2021 Chevrolet Silverado Trail Boss Edition pickup. Last contact with Bishop was from his cell phone at 6:58 p.m.
Due to the details in the report, search and rescue teams have focused their efforts along the Mississippi River. The search is ongoing, and aided by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Wapello Fire and Rescue, Louisa County Emergency Management, Muscatine Sheriff’s Office, Muscatine Fire and Rescue, and Oakville Fire and Rescue.
Anyone who has information, or has heard from Michael Bishop since Sunday is asked to contact the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office at 319-523-4371. It is also requested that any search efforts be coordinated with trained search and rescue personnel only.
