superconference

Southeast Iowa Super Conference basketball is finally back this evening after a holiday hiatus. Four doubleheaders featuring area teams tonight get play going again in the Super Conference North this season. That includes the showdown between the Hillcrest Academy Ravens and the Winfield-Mount Union Wolves. 13th ranked WMU will try to remain unbeaten on the season as they host winless Hillcrest in the girls’ game. The boys’ game is for sole possession of second place in the conference, with both the Wolves and the Ravens at one loss each. You can hear both games starting at 5:30 tonight on 102.5 FM and AM 1380 KCII.

The fifth-ranked WACO Warriors will look to remain perfect in the boys’ half of a pair against Louisa-Muscatine, while the WACO girls come in at 5-1 in league play and 7-2 overall. Lone Tree looks for better conference results as they travel to Wapello tonight. The Lion girls are 6-5 overall but just 2-3 in conference play, while the boys are 3-7 and have just one league win. The Columbus Wildcats will be hosting conference and county foe Highland this evening. The girls’ game sees both teams two games below .500 in both conference action and overall, while the Husky boys are still winless this season and hope their first comes against the one-win Wildcats.
