It was a busy to wrap up the week at Highland High School as the Huskies hosted their girls wrestling tournament Friday. Area schools Washington, Mid-Prairie, Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union, WACO and the home Huskies were among the 30 that competed.
The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks led the way of those five crowning three champions on the day. Ellie Brenneman, Mardie Berry and Ellie Callahan all made their way to the top of the podium. Kenda Shqair, Ashlee Farrier and Marissa Cline were all runners-up and Grace Conway, Mia Garvey and Sam Stacey were third place finishers.
The Highland Huskies found success on their home mat, led by championships from Mackenzie McFarland and Angelina Roling. Abbie Grout and Lilly Barre were runner-up finishers.
The Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union Wildcats crowned a pair of champs Friday with Dakota Storm and Lecet Quiroz winning gold. Yaleen and Emily Miranda finished as runners-up and Audrey Hoback was third.
For the WACO Warriors, Bralyyn Wagler was a champion with Rylee Rice, Destiny Boone and Grace Fort finishing as runners-up.
The Washington Demons were led by a second place finish for Teegan Sulentich and third place each for Jillian Langstraat and Peggy Miller.
