
Sigourney-Keota wrestling continued what’s been a dominant season in their first tournament of the new year, as they finished fifth out of an 18-team field at the Ottumwa Invitational on Saturday. Sigourney-Keota put up 127 team points, 70 behind team champion Creston.
Leading the way was senior Jack Clarahan, who once again won a tournament title, as he brought home the championship at 170 pounds. Clarahan pinned his first three opponents before getting a 12-3 major-decision victory in the final. A bevy of SK wrestlers finished fourth in their weight class, including sophomore Reanah Utterback at 106 lbs; junior Reid Molyneux at 152; junior Jake Moore at 160; and junior Hunter Sieren at 182.
Seniors Austin Gorsh and DJ Hammes earned fifth-place finishes at 113 and 145, respectively, while freshman Owen Menke finished sixth at 185 and sophomores Brady Clark and Jayden Thompson added seventh-place medals to the total for Sigourney-Keota, which had 10 of its 12 wrestlers participating finish seventh place or better
