The Washington County Pork Producers are seeking contestants for the 2023 Royalty. Female students in their junior or senior year of high school can compete for Washington County Pork Queen, while any junior or senior can apply to become the Pork Youth Ambassador. Entry forms are due by Wednesday, February 1.

Members of the Washington County Pork Royalty serve as spokespersons for the industry, sharing updates and information at various events like in-store promotions, county fair activities, parades, and Iowa Speedway grill outs. Royalty will be introduced to the Washington County Pork members at their annual banquet on Saturday, March 4. Additionally, the individual named Queen will compete in the Iowa State Pork Queen Contest at the Iowa Pork Congress in January 2024.

The competitions include a biography sheet, a 3-5 minute speech on a topic relevant to the pork industry, an interview, and a self-presentation. If selected as queen, a $400 dollar stipend will be given to cover costs during the reign. The Ambassador will receive $200, with half of the stipends paid at the beginning of the reign, and half at the end.
