The WACO Community School District Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, January 16.

The district hired Kelsey Shipman for Elementary Special Education for the 2023-24 school year.

The board approved a request for Modified Supplemental Amount and Supplemental Aid for next school year’s Dropout Prevention Program in the amount of $147,881.

Administrative reports closed out the session. Superintendent, Ken Crawford spoke with KCII about the attendance goals presented from the high school principal. “Tim Bartels is really working hard on trying to get our attendance numbers up. So he presented to the board a little bit about where they’re at so far. They have a goal of having 95% of the kids at school, and I think they are at 96 now.” Updates from the elementary school included a recap of their Kindness Week.

The WACO School Board’s next meeting will be held on Monday, February 20 at 5:30 p.m. in the Junior/Senior High Board Room.
