lone-tree-3

The Lone Tree Lion girls’ basketball team kept their win streak going by defeating Lousia-Muscatine 49-25 Tuesday night. Leading by only two at the end of the first quarter, Lone Tree expanded the advantage to 23-12 at halftime and more than doubled the lead by the time the third quarter came to an end.

Lion freshman Finley Jacque flexed her shooting and scoring prowess, hitting four three-point field goals and pouring in a game-high 22 points. Junior forward Avery Lisk nearly posted a double-double with 10 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Sophomore point guard Vivian Zaruba nearly did the same and also hit three triples, finishing with nine points, 10 boards and seven assists as Lone Tree wins its fourth straight to improve to 8-4 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North and 11-6 overall.

The Lion boys fell to Louisa-Muscatine but gave a well-fought effort, leading by two after a quarter of play and only trailing by one at the half. 28 points from junior Ty Northup would be enough to give the Falcons a 60-57 victory, dropping Lone Tree to 3-9 in conference play and 6-11 overall. Next up for both Lion squads is a home date with Pekin this evening.
