The Winfield-Mount Union Wolves scored an impressive boys’ basketball victory yesterday evening, knocking off Cedar Valley Christian 82-19. WMU raced out to a 25-3 lead after one quarter of play, then duplicated that offensive production in the second period to take a 50-9 lead into halftime and never look back.

The Wolves had a balanced offensive attack on the night, with all but one player on the roster scoring. Junior forward Abram Edwards led the way with game highs of 13 points and seven rebounds. Junior guard Carter Loyd finished with 12 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals, while classmate Gabriel Hemsworth also posted 12 points and three steals off the bench. Sophomore Cooper Buffington added 10 points off the pine to help Winfield-Mount Union raise their record to 15-4. The Wolves will next play tomorrow night, as WMU takes on Burlington Notre Dame in the Super Conference Shootout.
