lone-tree-3

The Lone Tree Lion basketball teams finished conference play on a high note last night, sweeping a doubleheader with Wapello. The Lone Tree girls were already up 21-2 before the first quarter came to an end, and they more than doubled that advantage to 48-6 by halftime. The Lions went on to win 59-28, finishing with an 11-5 record in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North and improving their overall mark to 13-7.

The Lone Tree boys would be in front most of the night, but by the skin of their teeth. Wapello trimmed a three-point lead after one quarter down to two at the half, and the Lions would hold on in a close one down the stretch for a 54-52 victory. It’s just the fourth conference win of the season for the Lions, who move to 7-13 overall. This weekend’s Super Conference Shootout will see the Lone Tree girls take on West Burlington tonight, while the boys battle Van Buren County tomorrow.
