As part of the 2023 Miss Mount Pleasant event on Saturday, January 28, the Miss Mount Pleasant Outstanding Teen competition was held for candidates between 13 and 18 years old. Wapello native, Elizabeth Maine, was crowned as this year’s winner.

Maine, a senior at Wapello High School, aspires to be a high school math teacher and dance coach. For her talent portion, she performed a musical theater dance solo. Her social impact initiative was entitled “The Key to Life: It’s in Your Blood.” Maine will continue on to represent Mount Pleasant in the 2023 Miss Iowa’s Outstanding Teen Scholarship Program in June.

As part of her title, Maine was awarded a $200 cash scholarship, and earned an additional $75 in scholarships for receiving the Top Interview and People’s Choice Awards. This year’s Outstanding Teen First Runner-Up is Ashton Coder, of Cranston, while Olivia Harrington, of Milo, won the Spirit Award.
