The Washington Demon boys’ basketball team picked up a third straight win by taking down Clear Creek Amana 59-39 on Saturday. After taking a 16-7 lead at the end of the first quarter, Washington more than doubled their advantage to 35-17 at halftime. Clear Creek cut the deficit down to 11 points at the end of the third period, but the Demons closed out a victory with another 16-7 run.
Washington senior guard Ethan Patterson led the way with game highs of 17 points and seven assists. Senior forward Ajay Six also stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals to raise the Demons’ record to 10-7.
The Washington girls fell to Clear Creek Amana 55-24. Already down 27-11 at the half to the seventh-ranked team in Class 4A, being on the wrong end of a 19-4 run in the third quarter made it too hard for the Demons to avoid their ninth loss in the last 10 games. Washington falls to 7-12. Both Demon teams are right back at it tonight against Williamsburg.
