Recently, Mid-Prairie’s Molly Yoder signed her letter of intent to continue her athletic and academic career at Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids. Yoder, a Golden Hawk senior, will be a part of the Mustang softball program under the direction of head coach Larry Yoder.
Yoder began contributing to the Mid-Prairie varsity team as a sophomore, playing a corner outfield position. She has a .283 career average at the plate with 15 hits, 15 runs scored and nine RBI entering her senior season. She spoke with KCII sports about why Mount Mercy was the right fit for her. “First I looked for academics. I knew I wanted to stay somewhere that was somewhat close to home. Mount Mercy was just the best fit for me. I knew I really liked the coaching staff there. They have a really good program. When I went on my visit, the coaching staff was really welcoming. They made me feel at home and like I was a part of the team already. They liked that I’m pretty fast and a versatile athlete, so I can play a utility position.”
The Mustang softball team finished last season with a 35-19 overall record. While attending Mount Mercy, Yoder plans to study business management and sport, health and exercise psychology.
