With FFA Week underway in southeast Iowa, many area schools will celebrate current and future farmers with spirit days and a variety of activities.

WACO Schools begin the festivities on Monday, February 20 with “Dress Like A Farmer” Day. On Tuesday, February 21, students are invited to wear orange or camouflage clothing. Wednesday, February 22 is Tractor Day, where students will wear either red or green. Thursday, February 23 will see students rocking their FFA shirts.

Keota Schools have no classes on Monday, however, Sub-District FFA Contests will take place at Montezuma High School. Tuesday is “Wear Your Feed or Seed Brand” Day, followed by FFA T-Shirt Day on Wednesday. Thursday is Western Day, and will also include the FFA Reading Relay at the elementary school. Tractor day on Friday calls for students to wear red or green, as well as drive their tractors to school. The Tractor Parade will begin at 12:10 p.m. and students with tractors will be dismissed at 3:10 to make room for buses.

The tradition of FFA Week began in 1947 by the FFA Board of Directors. It is held during the week of George Washington’s birthday in recognition of the former-president’s legacy as an agriculturalist and farmer.
