The WACO Warriors were one of the best boys’ basketball teams in southeast Iowa this season, and that shows in their postseason accolades. Six WACO players have been named all-conference in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North after the Warriors won 21 games and went unbeaten in league play. The conference champs also saw their head coach, Paul Kissell, be named Super Conference North Coach of the Year.

Leading the all-conference choices for WACO are junior Hunter Hughes and senior Cody Graber on the first team. Hughes finished sixth in scoring, fifth in assists and first in steals in the Super Conference North. The junior guard averaged nearly 15-and-a-half points, three-and-a-half assists and three-and-a-half steals per game while shooting over 52 percent from the field overall and better than 42 percent on three-pointers. Graber was one of the state’s leaders in blocked shots, averaging a league-high three a game while also averaging better than eight points and seven rebounds nightly.

Senior Simeon Reichenbach and junior Colton Leichty make the second team. Both players excelled in multiple facets of the game, with Reichenbach posting almost eight points, 3.5 rebounds, two assists and two steals per contest, while Leichty averaged nearly 9.5 points, five boards and 2.5 steals. In his first full season with the Warriors, senior Odee Shtefanchuk is named honorable mention all-conference, collecting nearly seven points, four rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Senior Isaac Oswald bounced back from an injury that knocked him out of most of last season and is also an honorable mention, leading WACO in assists and averaging two steals a game.
