The Washington Middle School Jazz Band placed 3rd at the Southeast Iowa Bandmasters Association Jazz Festival at Clear Creek-Amana High School on Saturday, March 4th. Their selections included “Route 66”, “It Had to Be You,” and “St. Thomas.” Seven soloist awards went to Ethan Hotchkiss on Alto Sax, Katy Galyon on Tenor Sax, Jaedyn Moore on Trumpet, Jaxson Lilly on Trumpet, Johannah Halvorson on Trombone, Robert Altheide on Bass and KJ Piere on Drums. The WMS Jazz Band is directed by Craig McClenahan, and the band members are Ethan Hotchkiss, Shelby McKenna, Kevin Sales-Gomez, Katy Galyon, Melody Mei, Braydon Clough, Jaedyn Moore, Gabby Andrew, Anthony Raymundo, Jaxson Lilly, Eva Torres, Johannah Halvorson, Ethan Peebler, Josiah Tiffany, Landen Lee Hawkins, Robert Altheide, KJ Piere, Cassy Salgado, Fletcher Brower, and Nathan Schrock.
