Last week, Governor Kim Reynolds and the Iowa Economic Development Authority announced an additional $15 million dollars in funds for organizations in rural Iowa, as part of the Destination Iowa Program.

The Midwest Old Settlers and Threshers out of Mount Pleasant was one of 18 rural organizations awarded a grant, receiving $500,000. These funds will go towards improving and enhancing existing campground facilities. The award represents 38% of the total project investment, which is projected at $1,312,525.

The Destination Iowa Program opened in May of 2022 with the goal of investing in the quality of life and tourist attractions in Iowa’s cities and towns. Following the final round of awards last week, the program has given a total of $115 million for 46 different projects across the state.
