The postseason accolades continue to roll in for one of the Washington Demons’ top boys’ basketball players. Ethan Patterson has been named to the All-Substate 6 Team in Class 3A by the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association, his second all-substate selection. The senior guard was one of the leading scorers and shooters in the Southeast Conference this season, posting a team-high 19-and-a-half points per game and hitting 36 percent of his three-point attempts, including averaging over 21 points per contest and shooting almost 47% on three-pointers over Washington’s final 11 games.

Patterson also affected other areas of the game, leading the Demons in assists and steals and finishing third on the team in rebounding. Patterson averaged four assists a game and shot 41% overall from the field. Add on shooting over 80% on free throws in his career, and it’s easy to see why Patterson became just the fourth player in Washington boys’ basketball history to score 1,000 career points.
