Hillcrest Academy forward Grant Bender continues to fill up his trophy case with postseason honors. The Raven senior was named All-Substate by the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association.

Bender was a unanimous first team all-Southeast Iowa Superconference selection. He led the Ravens with 423 points this year, third in the Superconference, finishing his career with more than 900. His 57 steals were fourth in conference, his 56% field goal percentage is sixth in the league with 137 boards, ninth in conference.

Joining Bender on the Class 1A Substate 6 team were Nash Smith and Lane Harmon of North Mahaska, William Kiburis and Caleb Egesdal of Gladbrook-Reinbeck, Connor Maston of Lynnville-Sully, Luke Long from Pekin and Sawyer Stout from Keota. Scott Kiburis of Gladbrook-Reinbeck was named Coach of the Year.

The Ravens finished with a 12-11 overall mark.
