This week, the Washington County Riverboat Foundation announced their 2023 first quarter city grants through its Municipal Grant program. Kalona, Wellman, and West Chester were three of the eight cities in Washington County benefiting from the program.

Kalona was awarded $56,770.47, Wellman received $33,305.33, and the city of West Chester was granted $2,724.98. Since 2006, WCRF has given over $2.5 million to Kalona, more than $1.5 million to the city of Wellman, and just over $155,000 to West Chester. Funds received are programmed by each city council.

WCRF is the nonprofit license holder for the Riverside Casino & Golf Resort, which provides all of its funding. Through their Municipal Grant program, they distribute 25% of their total revenues directly to the cities in Washington County based on population. Since the casino opened in 2006, WCRF has granted $14,409,926.70 in total Municipal Grants.
