Members of Washington’s Hotel Motel Tourism Committee, Michelle Redlinger, Mikayla Slechta, Millie Youngquist, and Isabella Santoro, traveled to Altoona, Iowa, last week for the 2023 Travel Iowa Tourism Conference. They heard from several speakers to learn about different ways and methods to market Washington. Committee member Isabella Santoro had this to say about the conference, “It was to learn more about what we can be doing to attract more visitors and tourists to Washington, how to market our town, to get people to come and visit. Kind of dos and don’ts, little tips and tricks for that from people who work in the trade, and it was really, really helpful; we got a lot of good takeaways from it.”  The Hotel/Motel Tax Fund Administration Committee advises the City Council on the most efficient and effective uses of revenue derived from the hotel/motel tax, including conducting long-term planning, visioning and development of written plans to these stated ends.
