In their first season as a sanctioned high school sport through the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls wrestling team did work. Five Golden Hawks put their names among the best in school history for both season and career marks.

Mid-Prairie junior Gabi Robertson now owns five program records. Robertson is the career leader with 83 takedowns and 16, two-point nearfalls. Her 47 takedowns, 10, two-point nearfalls and 13, three-point nearfalls this year, are all best for a single season in school history. She finished eighth at state, becoming just the sixth wrestler in Mid-Prairie history to place twice.

Golden Hawk junior Ellie Brenneman claims ownership of four school marks. Her 48 pins and 19 reversals are most in a career. Brenneman’s 36 wins and 33 pins this year are most for a single season.

Mid-Prairie senior Mia Garvey holds a pair of career school records including 48 pins and 34 escapes.

Golden Hawk Marissa Cline scored 14 reversals last season as a senior, most for a single year.

Sophomore Ashlee Farrier’s 34 escapes is already most for a career in Mid-Prairie history.

The girls team scored a program best 222 combined falls this season, finished with a 7-1 dual record, best ever at Mid-Prairie, and sent a boys and girls program school record five wrestlers to the state meet at Xstream Arena in Coralville.
