The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls golf team scored their second River Valley Conference dual victory of the season, taking down the West Branch Bears at Cedars Edge Golf Course Monday. The Hawks beat the Bears by a 202-209 count. Gabi Robertson was meet co-medalist with her round of 48 for the Hawks. Other scores for Mid-Prairie included Addison English and Alexa Huber with matching 51s, Kylie Reinier and Madi Davidson each at 52 and Elliot Debler 53. This week, Mid-Prairie head girls golf coach Tracy McArtor talked with KCII Sports about his team’s play Monday night and on the early season. “Even with that 48, Gabi (Robertson) had a quadruple bogey right out of the gate. She didn’t let it get to her. That’s pretty solid. Addison (English) shoots a 51 with a nine and a 10 on her card. It’s something pretty easy to fix, it’s just a matter of a couple of bad swings and you can go into the middle and lower 40s even for those two. Our ability to make some big improvements as we move forward here is pretty low hanging fruit. Kylie (Reinier) has been coming on strong. This is really her first year of playing varsity golf. She was our seventh player last year. She’s worked hard to get where she’s at. Alexa (Huber) too. Madi (Davidson) and Elliot (Debler) are playing their game. Their average is right around that 50 mark and they’re sticking right to that. I know they’d like to shoot better than that, and that will come but, there’s something to be said about their consistency. Like most of our previous teams this time of year, we are going to work moving forward on short game and putting.”

With the win, the Hawks are 2-0 in RVC play and stand at 3-2 overall on the year. Their next meet is Monday in Kalona against Tipton.
