The Winfield-Mount Union Wolves picked up a pair of victories over Louisa-Muscatine to get the golf season started Monday. WMU defeated the Falcons by 33 strokes in boys’ team play and an even 40 on the girls’ side. Wolves junior Carter Loyd had the top round for the boys, shooting a five-over-par 41 and taking medalist honors for the meet. Senior Andrew Brown was one stroke back of second with a 44, while sophomore Jake Edwards fired a 47 and freshman Nick Sparrow posted a 49. Senior Isabel Kann led the WMU girls by shooting 50. Senior Ali Humphries and junior Lily Freeman both ended with rounds of 55. The Wolves will next be in action Tuesday against Mediapolis.
