The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls soccer team made it back-to-back wins to start the year with a 1-0 shut out of Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union on the road Thursday. The Hawks found the back of the net in the 25th minute when Paityn Jennings made the throw in assist to Elise Gingerich to beat the ‘Cats’ keeper. That’s where the score stood at half. From there, both defenses dug in the rest of the night and Mid-Prairie made that lone tally stand up. Kina Miller recorded the clean sheet in goal for the Hawks in the victory. With the win, the Golden Hawks remain unbeaten at 2-0 and are now 14-0 all-time against Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union. The Hawks will next be in action Monday when they host Monticello. Columbus falls to 1-3 and hosts Keokuk Tuesday.
