The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys soccer team tasted victory for the first time in 2023 with a 1-0 win at Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union Thursday. The two teams played a scoreless first half, which extended through the first 27 minutes of the second stanza. In the 67th minute Mid-Prairie broke through when Tucker Miller cashed in a penalty kick chance to put the Hawks up 1-0. The Golden Hawk defense did the rest, keeping the ‘Cats off the board. The Golden Hawks had six shots on goal, Andrew Kaufman turned in the clean sheet with four saves. Mid-Prairie is now 1-2 on the season as Columbus falls to 0-4.
