Lone Tree High School is the place to be Monday for the annual Mike Kautz Invitational which includes seven KCII area schools. The Lone Tree boys and girls were last in action at West Branch Thursday. The Lone Tree girls were third in the team standings led by a high jump title from Riley Krueger. She was also runner-up in the 100m hurdles and Ava Christofferson was second in the 200. For the boys Jader Sanchez was second in the long jump and the 4×400 team of Tyce Ault, Andrew Gauley, Ethan Bockelman and Dom Garcia were second.
Mid-Prairie will bring their girls team to Lone Tree tonight. The Hawks are fresh off of a title at Thursdays Demon Relays in Washington. The Golden Hawks dominated at Case Field with 130 points. Danielle Hostetler won the 1500 and 3000. The sprint medley team of Jovi Evans, Tabitha Evans, Amara Jones and Madeline Schrader won gold.
Hillcrest Academy is back in action at Lone Tree Monday. The Ravens have been off since the Columbus Early Bird on March 20th. In CJ to begin the year, the Raven boys were led by Owen Scott, fourth in the 400 and 800 and fifth in the long and high jumps. Jesse Blossom was sixth in the mile. For the girls, Anna Torok was third in the 100, fourth in the long jump and fifth in the 200.
Highland also ran at Case Field Thursday, with the girls finishing ninth with 26 points led by a long jump title for Sarah Burton. She was also fourth in the 200 along with the shuttle hurdle team of Emma Cole, Brenna Hazellett, McKenzie Davis and Adelynn Kleopfer.
The Columbus Wildcats traveled to Iowa City Liberty a week ago. The boys had three championship events on the night. Jeff Hoback won the 100, Kaden Amigon the long jump and Russell Coil the discus. Amigon was runner-up in the 100, Bryce Grimm second in the discus, Coil second in shot put, Damian Vergara second in the 800 and Grimm third in the shot. The Wildcat girls got points from their shuttle hurdle team of Lily Coil Ariana Vergara, Audrey Hoback and Victoria Howell that finished third.
WACO was at the Washington Demon Relays Thursday. The Warrior boys scored 45 points and the girls 9.5. The boys had a pair of third place finishes from Simeon Reichenback in the 110 hurdles and Mason Miller in the high jump. The girls had a third place finish from Zoey Dennler in the 400m hurdles.
The Keota Eagle boys were last on the oval Thursday at Pekin. Luke Moeller was runner-up in the 400. The Eagle 4×200 was also second.
Joining those area schools will be Louisa-Muscatine and Tri-County. Action starts at 4:30 and continues into the evening at Lone Tree High School.
