Students at Highland Community Schools are in the final week of preparation for this year’s spring production. Performances are scheduled for Friday, April 14 and Saturday, April 15 in the school gymnasium, with both beginning at 7 p.m.
Junior cast member, Gwen Piette, sets the stage for the production, titled Acting Can Be Murder. “This play is about a woman named Dolores Gordon who has always been an understudy her whole life and decides to kill off the lead actress, Guinevere Black so then she can become the star. But the body goes missing, and it’s a mystery of who took the body.” Despite the premise, the performance features plenty of light-hearted comedy and keeps the audience guessing until the very end.
Senior, Ethan Krotz, encourages all to attend this unique performance, telling KCII, “The whole play itself was written in Iowa and it’s very recent as well, so it will be something that you’ve never seen before.”
The play is directed by Jacob Allen, and features 14 cast members. Tickets are $5 and will be available at the door.
