Chalk up more victories for Washington Demon golf, as both teams won Southeast Conference meets on the road yesterday. The Washington boys saw Fairfield make a strong push to challenge them, but the Demons’ team score of 156 strokes was still five better than the Trojans at Elks Fairview Golf Course in Keokuk.
Freshman Rajan Roth shot an even-par 36 to again claim medalist honors for Washington, while junior teammate Roman Roth was only two strokes behind in a tie for second individually. Demon freshman Drew Conrad tied for fourth by shooting 40, while senior Isaac Vetter fired a 42 and junior Teague Meyer posted a 43. Junior Luke Beenblossom’s round of 44 means that no Washington player has still shot a nine-hole round of worse than 48.
The Demon girls are also still unbeaten in team play after defeating their conference rivals at Sheaffer Memorial Golf Park in Fort Madison. Senior Makenna Conrad’s three-over 39 paced Washington on their way to a team score of 172 and was also good enough to be the meet medalist. Classmate Kaylin Long was only two strokes off the top pace, while freshman Adalyn Long added a 45 and senior Alecia Goff shot 47.
Junior Maci Williams finished with a 49 and senior Mallary Johnson posted a 51 for the Washington girls, who are off until they travel to Keokuk Thursday. The Demon boys return to the course later today for the Mid-Prairie Invitational.
