A pair of area high school track and field teams ventured away from home on Tuesday and came away with some good results. The WACO Warriors took part in the Lisbon Invitational, where the boys finished fourth in team scoring. WACO was led by senior Simeon Reichenbach, who was second in both the 110-meter hurdles and the long jump. Classmate Odee Shtefanchuk was also a runner-up in the discus toss, while fellow senior Mason Miller took third in the high jump. The Warriors finished second in the shuttle hurdles relay and third in the four-by-200-meters. The best finish for the WACO girls came from junior Zoey Dennler, who was fifth in the 400-meter hurdles. The Warriors next compete at the Winfield-Mount Union Invitational later this afternoon and evening.

The Sigourney Savages put their best foot forward at the Ruth Ahrens Boys’ Relays Tuesday in Marengo. One of the best finishes for Sigourney came from sophomroe Caden Clarahan, who was the runner-up in the 110 hurdles in 18.67 seconds. Savage freshman Troy Klett was also second in the 3,000 meters with a time of 11 minutes 19 seconds and third in the 1,600 with a time of 5:12. The Savages will again take to the track later today at Lynnville-Sully.
